Is it dowsing rods or dousing rods? I didn't know, so I looked up the answer. To douse means to apply water, for example "to douse the flames" in order to put out a fire. "To dowse" means to search for or to dowse for water. Thus dowsing rods seems to be the term. If you already knew this, please excuse the pedantry.
Asks a reader:
I joined an intuitive development class several years ago. One day the psychic medium who ran the class used dowsing rods, made of copper, as a demonstration. She asked a group of 10 people individually and then collectively to meditate on their saddest and then happiest thought. When we meditated on sadness, the rods would move closer together as though being drawn in to the person meditating. When we meditated on love/happiness, the rods would move in the opposite direction. As a collective group, the rods moved more quickly and when the psychic medium called in Archangel Michael, whom she communicates with, the rods moved surprisingly quick.
I then tried it on my brother and as he meditated with eyes closed on a sad thought the rods drew in. He opened his eyes and upon noticing the rods he laughed heartily out loud and the rods rapidly moved in the other direction. Can The Committee provide some clarity here.
My main questions:
Q1. What were the rods responding to when they moved?
C: The energy of emotions and really, the thoughts expressed as emotions, or communication telepathically, or any thought energy all of which becomes the basis of everything we do. Physical movements humans make have to start with thought energy.
Q2. Why did they move faster when my brother laughed?
C: Positive, happy thoughts are more potent than negative. Often much stronger.
Q3. It seems obvious the rods moved faster when a group meditated, but is there more to it than total quantity?
C: Yes, coordinated positive energy multiplies. 1+1+1 = 5, not 3 for good thoughts, but 3 or less for negative or unpleasant thinking.
Q4. I assume if a Master meditated, the rods would respond morel quickly. Is this true?
C: Yes, because such “master” energy is strong. Just as humans can train muscles to become stronger, so can any energetic being. All humans can, also. The difference with incarnate beings such as ourselves, is the time delay. The time illusion, very real for us “body occupants” makes the results seem to come later, versus sooner.
Q5. Dowsing or diving rods were used by travelers to find underground water for centuries. Was it the intention of the user that resulted in finding water or not?
C: The intent is part of it, such desire tunes the process to respond to the energy given off by water. All substances have a unique energy signature, in solid objects we call it a resonant frequency, but all materials & substances have it.
Q6. Would The Committee explain the energetic action that takes place to make the rods move?
C: All matter contains the inherent energy of the atoms which compose it. This energy is called gravity. For still objects it is generally static; for thoughts it becomes dynamic and changing. Electromagnetic radio waves are an example.
Q7. This has caused me to consider the impact of thought and the mostly unrecognized power we ourselves have over our own lives, such as our health, happiness, peace and ability to live abundantly. In A Course In Miracles text portion, Jesus says the medicine we take, such as a pill, only works because we believe it will work. We don’t need the pill, but we believe we do so we don’t even attempt to heal ourselves energetically with our thoughts/energy. Would The Committee explain this further if true? Also, if we can heal ourselves, will readers of this site live long enough to experience or witness this type of healing in their own lives and those around them or may some even become healers themselves?
C: The substances in a medication stimulate the reaction, but the same effects can be generated by thoughts, specifically the energy given off or transmitted by thoughts. This works well when it is expected to function, this process is named “belief”.
Yes, many readers of this website already have, an example is reiki. Crystal energy combined with and directed to a specific person or recipient is another example. Belief is required; free will and choice of belief cannot be overcome unilaterally. Both sides of the process need to accept.
