Chapter 2 - Violent Crime
"Important this issue is, yet short is the discussion. Violent crime is a product of human teaching. It is not inherent or natural to a human, just because you are.
We accept that it will occur, because the habits and teaching are not easy to change. The concepts of revenge, retribution, envy, jealousy, disappointment and dissatisfaction are acquired early in human development, often before humans will develop an equal memory of the process.
Thus in the few humans where violence will be manifested, the urge or reaction does not develop from a blank slate, that decision considered at some or considerable length to then be compared to options & alternatives. This is extremely rare in the violent actor.
Violence must be eliminated from teaching, from imagery displayed and information provided. Stop making movies, films, television programs or performing live actor stage productions where violence or the threat become part of the show. Stop including it as part of stories, novels, magazines, news or books. Do not seek its display, turn away from it if shown to you.
Do not report on violence as news when it occurs.
Do not teach it. Do not manufacture more tools for conducting violence, but rather we suggest, employ a plan to reduce the numbers of implements for violence, as rates of violence diminish. In proportion. This will show that disarmament is not happening to the detriment of possible target victims, that the proportional ability to defend oneself is maintained, as the occurrence drops.
This does not mean no defense of yourself, but as the perceived need for self-defense drops, after the rates of violence decrease, the desire and awareness of requiring self-defense will decrease naturally. No action will be required forced or enforced; it will seem to happen automatically and easily.
Most of all, do all of these things voluntarily. Force no one ever to change their behavior, to take away tools, implements and machines of & for self-defense, against the will of their owners, do this NEVER.
Punishment of a transgressor is not what we mean. Sadly but predictably, serious human violence is reached as the attacker aggressor increases and graduates, if you will, to ever more severe acts. This pattern can continue once the mentality of such violator has become infected. The mental malady can seem permanent; however it is reversible over time. Imprisonment is rarely an effective reversal, because it groups large numbers of potentially violent offenders with one another for nearly all waking hours. This environment is a natural enclosure for fermentation of more violence, or at least its continuance.
Separation of violent offenders is recommended but not in an environment where principally other offenders become the violator's sole companions.
Removal of violence implements, tools and devices superficially appears to reduce violence risk but requires at least the threat of violence, if not outright use. It undermines its objective instantly. Creation of resentment is never a good path leading to happy conditions for all involved.
All moves must be voluntary. This key aspect is vitally essential to success in reducing it. Target victims of violence pass trough the worst sensation of involuntary trauma, pain, loss, fear, anger, disgust and terror. Any subsequent act intended as corrective partially furthers this aspect of violence and for this reason it must be avoided. Information, understanding, love and acceptance must underlie all good things, the removal of violence from society front and center among them."
